Emerson has just introduced the new linear luminaire for classified areas,  GRP Appleton ATX FNLED  for hazardous locations in Zone 2 and 22, along with an updated version of the Appleton ATX FELED  luminaire exclusively designed for hazardous areas in Zone 1 and 21.

Both ATX FELED and FNLED provide greater energy efficiency, lower maintenance costs and longer service life in adverse and difficult environments that are not appropriate for standard luminaires, especially where protection against dust and moisture ingress is needed. In addition, the update for ATX FELED provides improved LED performance and a varied voltage range for the best luminaire in its class.

Different areas of application

Identical in appearance and performance, ATX FELED and FNLED differ primarily in their classification for classified areas. ATX FELED is classified for IECEx / ATEX Zone 1 and 21 locations in petrochemical, oil and exploration plants, sewage treatment and other areas where flammable concentrations of flammable vapors or gases are more likely to exist under normal operating conditions. For its part, ATX FNLED is certified for IECEx / ATEX Zone 2 and 22 classified areas with a wider application in the processing of beverages, warehouses, pharmaceuticals, alternative energy and ports. Both use the Appleton universal voltage LED driver with voltage ranges of 120-277 VAC and 170-300 VDC and 6kV of built-in surge protection.

The Appleton ATX FELED and FNLED luminaires are designed to replace existing fluorescent linear luminaires , quickly and cost-effectively, reducing the burden of high electricity costs. Because the two luminaires have the same housing and mounting accessories as the original Appleton ATX FE fluorescent luminaires, both occupy the same space and are like their fluorescent equivalent. However, unlike fluorescent linear luminaires that emit light in all directions, Appleton ATX FELED and FNLED luminaires are directional, which means that light is better directed and energy is used more efficiently. In fact, ATX FELED and FNLED only use one third of the consumption of a fluorescent without reducing brightness or quality. Its bright, uniform lighting and superior distribution create safer working conditions in areas such as sidewalks, bridges, tunnels, operating areas and roads where lighting conditions below optimal conditions can be the cause of accidents or serious errors.

Greater resistance

For maximum corrosion resistance, the Appleton FELED and FNLED luminaires feature a reinforced fiberglass polyester body and hinged polycarbonate cover , along with an elastomer seal for water and dust sealing. In addition, the housing has an IK10 impact resistance rating, being ideal for use in extreme onshore and offshore environments. Its advanced thermal design ensures safe and reliable operation over a wide range of ambient temperature from -30 ° C to +55 ° C. Despite its rugged IP-66 design, it is easy to access the housing for installation and maintenance with just a hexagonal wrench or flat screwdriver.

By expanding the reach of its LED family, Emerson now provides lighting solutions for all industrial plants wherever linear luminaires are needed to illuminate large spaces.
